12.3 Rename Storage Subsystem

Rename Storage Subsystem link directly opens a window, where you can change the name
of DS3500 Storage Subsystem. When you add a new storage subsystem to your Storage
Manager, it is identified as "Unnamed". If you have several storage subsystems installed in
your environment, you can give each subsystem a meaningful name in window as in
Figure 12-3.
Figure 12-3 Rename Storage Subsystem
The subsystem name is immediately updated also in Enterprise Manger window.
Note: It is important to know that renaming the storage subsystem can have influence on
some services, running outside the Storage Manger. For example, you can run some
customized SMcli scripts, where the subsystem is referenced by its name. Also some types
of multipath failover drivers on servers uses the name of attached subsystem. We
recommend to rename a new subsystem as soon as possible, when it is not in production
yet.

12.4 Set a Storage Subsystem Password

This link opens a window (Figure 12-4 on page 308), where you can change password. For
DS3500, strong password rules are valid, so the password must be changed the first time you
open DS Subsystem Manager for given new DS3500. You can find more details about
DS3500 password settings "Set Password" on page 210.
