14.14.1 Initialize

When you select Advanced Recovery  Initialize in the SMW, the following submenu
options appear
Initialize  Drive...
Initialize Logical Drive...
Initialize Array...
Initialize - Drive
The initialize drive command is only used when only when you have moved a subset of drives
that were previously part of a multi-drive array from one storage subsystem to another.
Because you did not move the entire set of drives, the logical drive and array information
about the drives is incomplete.
Therefore, to erase all logical drive and array information about these drives and make them
available again for new logical drive creation, you must first initialize these drives. This action
erases the logical drive and array information and returns the selected drives to an
Unassigned state, which adds new or additional unconfigured capacity to the storage
subsystem. You can then use this capacity to create additional logical drives.
Attention: When you initialize a drive, all data on the drive is lost.
