want to install the ESM configuration file to just one enclosure, then select just that
enclosure in the list of enclosures.
3. Click the Select File button to specify the ESM configuration file that you want to transfer.
4. Click Start. You will be asked to confirm that you want to proceed. Type "yes" in the textbox
and click OK to continue.
Download Controller Firmware
Follow the steps described in this section to install the DS3500 storage subsystem firmware.
Note: The Download Controller Firmware function is also accessible from the
Advanced  Maintenance  Download  Controller Firmware... menu.
Attention: Each firmware file has a version number. The version number indicates
whether the firmware is a major version or a minor version. The procedure described in this
section describes how to download and activate only the minor firmware versions.
However, you can use the Enterprise Management Window to download and activate both
the major firmware versions and the minor firmware versions. The procedure using the
Enterprise Management Window to download and activate the controller firmware is
described in section 14.5.4, "Using the Enterprise Management upgrade tool" on
page 363.
1. To update the controller firmware using the DS Storage Manager, select the Download
controller firmware option, as shown in Figure 14-60 on page 377, and click OK.
2. Sometimes after selecting the Download controller firmware option, a dialog box similar
to the one shown in Figure 14-23 may appear. As in the example shown below, this can
occur if the DS3500 has logged too many critical events.

You will need to view the DS3500 event log and resolve the errors (see section 14.6, "View
Event Log" on page 395). In this example, clearing the DS3500 storage system event log
fixed the condition causing the verification error. If you are unable to fix the condition that
prevents the firmware upgrade then you should contact your local IBM Technical Support
representative.
3. If there are no event log verification errors then the Download Controller Firmware
window shown in Figure 14-68 on page 382 will appear.
