F L O A T H E IG H T
M easure:
- F loat height (a).
O ut of specification: A djust.
F loat height: 8 m m (0.31 in.)
M easurem ent an d adjustm ent steps:
- H old the carb uretor in an upside do w n position.
N O T E :
- S low ly tilt the carburetor in the o pposite direction, then take the m easure-
m ent w hen th e n eedle valve aligns w ith the float a rm .
- If the carbu reto r is level, the w eight of the float w ill push in the need le valve,
resulting in an incorrect m easure m ent.
- M easure th e distance betw een the m ating surfac e of the float cha m ber and
top of the float us ing a vernier calipers.
N O T E :
T he float arm sh ould be resting o n the needle valve, but not com pressing the
N eedle valve.
- If the float heig ht is not w ithin sp ecification, inspect the valve seat and nee-
dle valve.
- If either is w orn, replace them bo th.
- If both a re fine, adjust the float height b y ben ding the float tab (b ) o n the
float.
- R echeck the float height.
