In sp ec tio n o f ro cker arm
C heck the clearance betw een the rocker arm an d the rocker arm
shaft. M easure the inner diam ete r of the rocker arm (2) an d the
outer diam ete r of the rocker arm shaft (1) and accu rately determ ine
the clearance. M axim um clearanc e 0.04 in.
If greate r, replac e the tw o rocker arm bushings.
C heck that the pivot is not w orn; in this case, replace it.
U se a 6 m m scre w to push out the shafts (1) of the rocker arm s (2 ).
R em ove the rock er arm s.
C heck the rocker arm s for cracks.
A lso check the cam rollers (3). T h e y m ust be intact and w ithout pla y
(see page G .25 ).

If the rocker a rm bushings need re placem ent, rem o ve them w ith a drift. P ut in new
bushings using a h ydraulic press or a vise w ith flat sides.
R eam the bushin gs w ith ream er after the installation.
