B attery cu rren t leakag e
T o gain access to the batte ry, re m ove the saddle (see page E .4 ).
R em ove the B LA C K negative cable from the b attery.
M easure the current betw een the N E G A T IV E te rm inal of the batte ry and the
N E G A T IV E cable
using a tester. If the reading e xcee d 1 m A , there is a current leakag e.
If the vehicle rem ains unused for long periods (fo r m ore than o ne m onth
and a half ),it is recom m ended to rem ove batte ry from electrical system and
store it in a dry place.

T o gain access to the batte ry, re m ove the saddle (see page E .4 ).
W hen the engine is w arm a nd w o rking at slightly m ore than 3 000 rp m , m easure
the tension betw een the tw o batte ry te rm inals positive and negative w ith a tester
(in order to m ake this check the battery m ust be ch arged). If the value is not be-
tw e en 12.5V -14.5V , check the generator and tension - rectifying re gulator as de-
scribed A T P A G E m .18.
