C heck the w ear state of the hub bearings. In case of excessive clearance
(radial and a xial), operate as follo w s:
- la y the h ub on a flat holder w ith hole, allow ing fo r the passage of the rem oved
bearing;
- use a ham m e r and a pin to e xercise pressure only on the bearing inner ring
(see figure) up to its rem oval;
- continuously change the p ressure position so to get an extraction a s regular
as possible;
- extract the spac er and pe rform th e sam e operatio ns for the othe r b earing.
R em oved bea rings m ust not be reassem bled.
W hen reassem bling ne w bearings check the seat. It m ust be clean and w ithout
grooves or scratc hes. G rease the seat before fitting the bearing, th e n put it in the
seat using a prop er tubular p ad, e xercising pressure only on th e bea ring outer ring
to com plete inserting. P lace the spacer and the p ro ceed w ith th e pla cing of the
other bea ring. C heck their alignm ent b y placing th e w heel pin.
A fter every interv ention on w heels their balancing is advisable.
W h eel axle b en d in g
If the bending fig ure is over the allow able m ax lim it, straighten or rep lace the axle.
If the axle can no t the straightene d w ithin the pres cribed lim its, replace it.

C heck to m ake sure that all the nipples are tight (4 ,4 N m / 0,45 K gm / 3.2 ft-lb);
tighten them if ne cessary.
R em em ber that an insufficient stretch jeopardizes the m otorc ycle stability.
F or an instant ch eck, use a m etal point (for instanc e, a scre w driver) to beat the
spokes w ith. A live sound accounts for an accurate tightening, w hile a dull
sound m eans tha t a ne w tightenin g is necessary.
