C heck the free le ngth "L". If this does not correspo nd to the p rescribed lim its then
substitute the springs.
Internal spring: L = 1.44 in. - W ear lim it: 1.34 in.
E xternal spring: L= 1.70 in. - W ea r lim it: 1.65 in.

Lubricate the valve guides and valve stem w ith en gine oil w hen the valve is
installed.
Install the seal ring, the springs a nd the cup.
U se tool code no . 800039521 to com press the valve springs and can install halves
cones.

T ap gently on th e valve stem w ith a plastic ham m er to m ake the cotters seat.
