S p ark p lu g
U se "N G K " C P R 8E spark plug. C heck distance "A " (0,6÷0,7 m m /
0.022÷0.026 in.) betw een electrod es. A w ider gap m a y cause difficulties
in starting engine and in overloading coil. A gap that is too narro w m a y
cause difficulties w h en acceleratin g, w hen idling th e engine or w hen
perform ing a t lo w speeds. C lean the dirt a w a y fro m the base of the s park
plug before rem o ving it from the cylinde r. It is very useful to exam in e the
state of the spark plug just after it has been rem ov ed from the engine
since the deposits on the plug and the color of the insulator provide
useful indications concerning the h eat rating of th e plug, carburetion ,
ignition and gene ral engine condition. B efore refitting the plug, thoro ughly
clean the insulator using a brass-m etal brush. A pp ly a little graphite
grease to the plu g thread; fit an d screw th e plug h om e b y h and an d then
tighten to the correct torque (10÷1 2 N m ; 1,0÷1,2 3 K gm ; 7.2÷8.9 ft-lb)
using a plug spanner. S pa rk plugs w hich have cra cked insulators or
corroded electro des should be re placed.

W ith the gear in neutral position (fig.5), detach the connector (1 ) of the w iring of
the neutral senso r, groun d a tester term inal on the engine, then inse rt the othe r
one in the hole w here is the neutral sensor. T hen c heck the continuity.
