S E T T IN G S A N D A D JU S T M E N T S
A d ju stin g th e sh o ck ab so rb er sag
T he rea r shock absorber m ust be adjusted according to the
rider w eight a nd track conditions.
P roceed as follow s:
1. W ith m otorc ycle in vertical position m easure dista nce (A ).
2. T ake the no rm al riding position on the m oto rc ycle w ith all
your riding appa rel.
3. W ith som ebody s help, take th e ne w distance (A ).
4. T he difference betw een th ese tw o m easurem e nts
constitutes the S A G of th e m otorc ycle s rear en d.
S uggested S A G : 3.54 in. w ith cold shock absorber. 3.34÷3.42
in. w ith w a rm ed up shock absorber.
5. T o get th e righ t S A G according to you r w eight, a djust the
shock absorber spring preload.
R ear sh o ck ab so rb er ad ju stm en t
A djusting the shock absorber sprin g preload
P roceed as follow s:
1- R em ove "T he rear fram e w ith fender" as show n on page E .14.
2. C lean ringnut (1) and adjusting nut (2) of the spring.
3. E ither w ith a h ook w rench or an alum inum punch, loosen the ringn ut .
4. T urn the adjus ting nut as required.
5. W hen the adju sting operation is over, tighten the ringnut. (T orqu e for both
ringnuts: 5 K gm ; 49 N m ; 36.2 ft/lb ).
S hock absorber h ydraulic brake adjustm ent
* A ) C O M P R E S S IO N - S tandard a djustm ent:
1) Lo w d am ping speed: m axim um open (adjuster 3 )
2) H igh dam ping speed: m axim um open (adjuster 4 )
In order to obtain an harde r braking action turn the adjusters clockw ise.
* B ) E X T E N S IO N - S tanda rd calibration:
T E 610: -20 clicks ± 2 clicks
S M 61 0: -26 clicks ± 2 clicks
T o reset the stan dard calibration, turn lo w er adjuster (5) clockw ise u ntil
reaching fully closed position.
R eturn th en back for the m ention e d clicks. In order to obtain a sm ooth
braking action, turn the register an ticlockw ise. R everse the operation in order
to obtain a harde r braking action
S tandard pre-loaded length of spring:
234,5-237,5 m m (9.23-9.35 in.)
