T he pin on the n ew roll bearing a ssures the roll contact w ith th e rin g and
m akes easier the pin insertion during assem bly. H old the roller w ith n eedles
in place in the rocker arm and m o unt the roller sha ft. U se a vise. B e careful
so that the rocke r arm isn t dam a ged. Lock the cam roller shaft w ith a center
punch from each side.
C am s h aft
C heck that cam surfaces are scored, stepped, gro oved etc. E xcessively w o rn
cam s are often the cause of bad engine tim ing thus reducing engine po w er.
Insert the cam sh aft betw een tw o references and th en check deviation using
tw o com parato rs. W ear lim it: 0.0039 in.
- M easure th e cam height H w ith a m icrom eter.
- H (ne w )= 1.3 15 in. for the intake; 1.307 in. for th e exhaust.
- W ear lim it: 1.30 3 in. for the intak e; 1.295 in. for th e exhaust.
