C h eckin g th e c o o lin g flu id le ve l
C ooling fluid absorbs the heat fro m the therm ic group (piston,
cylinder, head ) a nd conve ys it to the exte rior atm o sphere thro ugh
radiator.
F or a correct ope ration of the cooling s ystem it is of utm ost
im portance the p eriodical check of fluid level.

T he coolant (2 ) m ust be flush w ith the lo w er side of the filling
pipe union. T he level inside the expansion tank m ust never
be under the M IN (1) (page N .3).
H o w ever if engin e overheating is noticed, check that radiator
is com pletely filled up. C heck the electric fan (3) o perates
properly (tha t is that the electric fan rem oves the w arm air fro m
the radiator). C h eck of radiator le vel m ust be perfo rm ed w ith
cold engine (see page D .15 ). If for an y reason you have to
operate o n a hot engine, take care to slow ly discharge pressure.
T he radiato r cap is provided of tw o unlocking positions, the first
being for the p re vious pressure discharge.

C o o lin g s ys te m
T he cooling s ystem is of the force d circulation type , w ith centrifu-
gal
pum p located on the L.H . side, at the c ylinder head, double heat
exchange r w ith vertical flow , the rm ostat and electric blow er.
T he opening of the therm ostat h a ppens w hen the tem peratu re of
the cooling liquid reaches about 7 5°C (16 7°F ); at this point the
liquid passes in the heat e xchang ers and, if the te m peratu re of
90°C (1 94°F ) is reached, the electric blow er is also actuated. an
expansion tank c onnected to the heat exchan ger the recovery of
the excess cooling liquid. F urther, a vent pipe on th e cooling
liquid
pum p cover, is connected to the tw o heat e xchang ers.
