loosen the upper plug (48) of eac h slider (7) w ith the 19-m m w renc h. R em ove
the fork legs fro m the m otorc ycle .
F ully unscre w th e plug (48) and low er the slider (7 ) do w n th e stanchion (5-6 )
slow ly.

K eep firm ly the p lug (48) w ith th e w rench previously used and then loosen the
check nut (23) w ith the othe r 19-m m w rench.
R em ove the plug (48) from the d a m per ro d.

P ull out the retaining cup (20), th e spring (21) and the pre -load sleeve (25).
P ull out the inner push-rod (31) from the dam pe r rod (32).

Let the oil com e out of the leg. F o r an im proved d rainage from the inner

IM P O R T A N T : p u t the leg into a container so that th e pressurized oil does not hit
the operator o r other people ne arb y. R ec ycle the exhausted oil in com pliance
w ith current la w s .
O perating conditions of the seals and guiding elem ents can be assessed by
exam ining the e xhausted oil features, its density an d quantity. If the oil is dense
and dark and co ntains foreign bo dies, the pilot bushing m ust be changed. If the
oil has a regular density but the q uantity, w hich ha s com e out of the leg, is
rem arkably unde r the indicated on e, change the oil seals.
IM P O R T A N T : n e ver use inflam m able or corrosive solvents for cleaning, the y
m ight dam age th e oil seals. If necessary, use a no n-inflam m able solvent, or
w ith a high flash point. B low com p ressed air into th e leg to fully rem ove the
solvent.
