Check whether the original is
set, then select the proper size.

Possible Cause and Required Action
Turn on the power of the scanner, and then
turn on the power of this machine.
• The ADF cover is open. Close it.
• Some pages are jammed on the ADF. Re-
move the jammed pages.
• Confirm that the scanner is properly con-
nected to the network.
• When the machine is moved from a cold lo-
cation to a warm location, a sudden tem-
perature change causes condensation
inside of the scanner. Wait one hour or
more before turning on the scanner to al-
low the condensation to evaporate.
• Restart the scanner and this machine. If the
error appears again, note the contents of
the error message and the error number,
and contact a service centre. ("SC4xxx" is
the error number. The number displayed
differs according to the error type.)
Double Feed (more than 2 sheets of originals
were fed into the ADF at once) has occurred
and it was detected. Remove the double fed
originals from the ADF and press [Exit].
Possible Cause and Required Action
The original is not on the exposure glass, or it
is placed but the scan size cannot be automati-
cally detected.
• If the original is not there, place it on the ex-
posure glass.
• Because the scanner detects the scan size
when the ADF is opened and closed, make
sure that you open the ADF to an angle of
30 degrees or more.
