Downloading Firmware to
Port Circuit Packs
You can download new firmware to one or more like circuit packs – with a "P"
suffix – residing within the same system. This capability reduces the need to
physically remove circuit packs and return them to the factory for firmware
updates.

During this process, a Web-downloaded firmware image (residing on a local
server) is either:
For a "self-download", copied (uploaded) onto a "source" circuit pack
For a "remote download", copied (uploaded) through a "source" C-LAN
circuit pack to a "target" circuit pack
using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The image is then copied to FLASH
memory.
