Path AIS
Path Alarm Indication Signal - A path-level code that is sent downstream in a digital
network as an indication that an upstream failure has been detected and alarmed.
Path Overhead (POH)
The Virtual-Container Path Overhead provides integrity of communication between the
point of assembly of a Virtual Container and its point of disassembly.
Path Terminating Equipment
Network elements in which the path overhead is terminated.

Performance Monitoring (PM)
Measures the quality of service and identifies degrading or marginally operating systems
(before an alarm is generated).
