Slip short sections of rubber hose over the connect-
ing rod bolts to prevent damaging the crankpin.
Apply engine oil to the left cylinder wall, piston and
piston rings.

Install the bearing caps by aligning the I.D. code on
the connecting rod and bearing cap. Be sure each
part is installed in its correct position, as noted dur-
ing removal.
Apply engine oil to the bearing cap nut threads and
seating surfaces and install the them.
Tighten the nuts in several steps alternately.
TORQUE: 31 N·m (3.2 kgf·m, 23 lbf·ft)
