The CR500 range are medium frequency spot welders that is designed for
body shops to duplicate the welding procedure used by car manufacturers. It
consists of a welder unit [1] fitted with a multi-function gun [2] and a c-tong
[3]. External accessories, such as an air puller, can also be used by
connecting them to the welder. (The air puller is available as an accessory.)
The CR500 range has four welding cables that provide quick access to two
sided, single sided and other types of welding without switching tools. This
promotes efficient and rapid welding work.
For safety reasons, it is important to understand the design and function of
the inverter welder before using it:
The CR500 range uses electricity only to create the welds, unlike the
MIG welder that uses an arc from a feeding wire that forms a weld
nugget out of the material in the feeding wire. A weld is created
when high current is transferred through the metals; the resistance in
the metals heats it up and fuses the metals together in a nugget.
The CR500 range c-tong also has a built-in pneumatic feature that
presses the welding tips together automatically when triggered.
Compression is an important ingredient in a good resistance weld.
(Compression is adjustable from the control panel.)
By automatically applying pressure after the current shuts off makes
the weld cool down under pressure and therefore form a hardened
and stronger weld. This feature is included in the CR500 range's
weld control program and is engaged automatically after the weld is
started.
The timer controls the duration of the current applied to the weld.
The ideal is to try to attain a weld that uses higher current and
shorter time and therefore reducing heat buildup.
IMPORTANT! The CR500 range welders may only be used by qualified
personnel. The user of the welder must have knowledge of spot welding and
of alignment of collision-damaged vehicles.
