13. If the variable requires a positive or negative indicator, check the Mandatory
Sign check box.
14. If you want the variable displayed using a multiplier, enter t multiplier in the
Multiplier field.
15. Click the Save Message button to save your changes to the message.
16. Select (empty).
17. Repeat steps 6 to 16 for each group or variable you want to add to the
Message Variable list.
18. To save project and message, select Save from the File menu.
After you have created and saved a custom message, you need to upload the
user-defined data file to your receiver.
1. Verify that your receiver is connected to your PC and that you can
communicate with your receiver.
2. Open the project file with the message formats you wish to upload to your
receiver.
3. Select Upload from the File menu.
4. In the Port Settings dialog box, select the COM port that your receiver is
connected.
5. Change the baud rate, if necessary.
6. Click OK.
UDM initiates communication with your receiver and uploads the message
formats to your receiver. The status bar in the dialog box shows the
progression of the data upload.
7. Click .
UDM uploads the message formats in the background. You can continue to work in the project file
while the upload progresses.
