Toner Low Detection

Device

The Toner Low Detection device consists of a stirring gear which rotates at a constant rate, a
stirring bar, and a magnet on the stirring bar. The stirring bar rotation is driven by the link to the
protrusion in the stirring gear.

Operation

Toner Low is detected by monitoring the time interval of the encounter of the magnet set on the
sensor lever and the magnet on the stirring bar.

Toner Full

The stirring gear rotates the stirring bar.
When toner is present, the stirring bar
moves through the toner at a constant rate.

Toner Low

When toner is low or empty, the stirring bar
rises to the maximum height and then falls to
the minimum height by its own weight. This
increases the time of its encounter with the
magnet on the sensor lever. By monitoring
this time interval, Toner Low can be de-
tected.
When the Toner Low state is detected 2
times consecutively, Toner Low is estab-
lished.
When the Toner Full state is detected 2
times consecutively, Toner Low is cancelled.
