Enter the primary Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) server IP
addresses.
Enable or disable the Internetwork Packet Exchange/Sequenced
Packet Exchange (IPX/SPX) protocol and set the appropriate frame
type.
Enable or disable Server Message Block (SMB).
Enable or disable the AppleTalk protocol and enter an AppleTalk
name and zone.
Enable wireless networking.
Set the device Name and workgroup.
Note: Many of these settings can also be made from a remote
workstation using Printer Utility. In addition to system configuration,
Printer Utility provides job monitoring and system management
functions.
Depending on how you intend to use your controller, you may need to
perform specific administrative functions before establishing print
services. For example, you may have to set up Novell printer and
server objects.
Client Software Installation
At this point in the installation process, your controller and copier are
fully functional. However, you cannot print to the copier from
workstations connected to the network until you have installed the
drivers (Unix filters or Macintosh PPD file) on the client machines.
Planning and Preparation
The following guidelines should make you aware of potential issues, but
cannot take the place of your knowledge and experience in administering
your network. Use them as a starting point from which to develop your
installation plan.
Notify Users
Whether you are upgrading an existing system or installing a new one,
you want to limit the inconvenience to users. You should provide advance
notification that walk-up functions and network printing will be disabled
temporarily. We also recommend installing or upgrading your system
during non-peak hours to minimize the impact on network traffic.
