11.5 Density determination of solids (hydrostatic weighing)

Density is the relationship of weight [g] : volume [cm
weighing the sample in air. The volume results from the ascending force [g] of the
sample dipped in a liquid. The density [g/cm
Archimedes).
1. How to prepare the weighing balance
The density is determined with help of the underfloor
weighing device.
Prepare the balance as follows:
• Switch off the balance
• Remove the weighing pan and carefully turn
over the weighing balance.
• Screw-in hook for underfloor weighing (option)
• Place weighing balance over an opening.
• Attach sample holder (1)
• Fill measuring liquid (2) in a vessel e.g. beaker
and temper it.
Activate function
In weighing mode keep the F-key pressed down
until [FWnm] appears on the display. Release but-
ton. The first menu item showing the current set-
ting will be displayed.
Press the TARE-key repeatedly until the menu
item "density determination solids" appears.
Press and hold the F-key until the next menu item
appears that is used for selecting the auxiliary
liquid.
