Open the front and right-hand doors.

The EasyCoder 501 XP can print labels, tickets, tags etc. using either
direct thermal printing on special heat-sensitive paper or thermal
transfer printing using a special ink-coated ribbon.
The thermal transfer printing allows a wide range of receiving face
materials to be used. Make sure to select a type of transfer ribbon that
matches the type of receiving face material to be used (see Appendix
2 "Media Specifi cations") and to set up the printer accordingly (see
chapter 7 "Setting Up the Printer").
Transfer ribbons do not smear at room temperature.
NOTE!
Only original transfer ribbons from Intermec must be used (see
Appendix 2), or the printhead warranty will be invalidated.

Turn the printhead lift knob to "Open" position.
