The message dialogs that appear in the Desktop SoftPhone will also assist you in trou-
bleshooting. Those messages include the following:

SYMPTON AND POSSIBLE SOLUTION
The host name (located in the IP address field in the Desktop OAI
Connection Settings tab under the DTI Server Settings dialog box) is
not an official host name or alias, or it cannot be found in the data-
base(s) being queried. This error has two common causes:
•
Wrong Host Name: Verify the host name is the CP Server's
host name.
•
Name Server and or Host Table Not Configured: Verify that
the DTI Server computer has a name server(s) and/or host table
configured. If a name server(s), such as the Domain Name Sys-
tem (DNS) Protocol or the Network Information System (NIS), is
being used, ping the server(s) to verify if the server host(s) is
running. Also, try to resolve another host name that you know
should work to test the name server(s). If the local computer
exclusively uses a host table, update it to add the host name
and IP address of the CP Server.
The requested host name (located in the IP address field in the Desk-
top OAI Connection Settings tab under the DTI Server Settings dialog
box) is valid, but it does not have an Internet IP address at the name
server. The host name-to-address translation attempt failed. See
"Host name of CP Server not found," described above for common
causes of this error.
The name server(s) had a non-recoverable error when trying to
resolve the host name (located in the IP address field in the Desktop
OAI Connection Settings tab under the DTI Server Settings dialog
box) to an IP address. The name server(s) was unable to interpret the
request, refused to satisfy the request, or did not perform the request.
See "Host name of CP Server not found," described above for com-
mon causes of this error.
Try Again Later. This is a temporary error that means the DTI Server
computer did not receive a response from the authoritative server. Try
connecting at a later time, or see "Host name of CP Server not
found," described above for other common causes of this error.
Enter a valid extension number. This is the extension to which TAPI
will have access. This field cannot be blank.
Enter an IP Address. This field cannot be blank.
Enter a valid TCP port. The TCP Port field must contain a valid TCP
port value (4000-65535).
