First Time Installation and Configuration
First Time Installation and Configuration of the RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX)
1500/1800/2000/4000 consists of the following procedures:
1 Preparation
Gather Network Equipment and Address Information - get the information needed for integrating
the RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX) 1500/1800/2000/4000 into the local network.
Unpack the Polycom® RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX) 1500/1800/2000/4000.
Modify the Management Network parameters on the USB memory stick.
2 Hardware Installation and Setup
Mount the Collaboration Server in a rack.
Connect the necessary cables.
3 First Entry Power-up and Configuration
Power up the RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX) 1500/1800/2000/4000.
Register the RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX) 1500/1800/2000/4000.
Connect to the RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX) 1500/1800/2000/4000.
Configure the Default IP Network Service.
Configure the ISDN/PSTN Network Service (not on supported on the RMX 1800).

IP Services
The IP addresses and network parameters which enable communication between the Polycom®
RealPresence Collaboration Server (RMX) 1500/1800/2000/4000, its management application and the
conferencing devices are organized in two IP services:
● Management Network (Control Unit)
● Default IP Service (Conferencing Service which includes the signaling and media)
During the First Entry Configuration, the parameters of these two network services are modified to comply
with your local network settings.
