If you are replacing a PCI Hot Plug capable board with an identical board,
then the HP NetServer can remain powered on. The HP NetServer can
operate safely with this panel removed on a temporary basis.
Refer to the topic "PCI Hot Plug Boards" in Chapter 6, "Installing
Additional Boards" and Information Assistant on the HP NetServer Online
Documentation CD-ROM for more details before proceeding.
CAUTION
To prevent a system crash or hang, do not remove a PCI Hot
Plug board with power applied to the PCI slot. First, you must
shut down power to the slot through your respective NOS's
utility before physically removing the board. Refer to the topic
"PCI Hot Plug Boards" in Chapter 6, "Installing Additional
Boards"
1. To perform this procedure, you must have already safely extended the HP
NetServer on its slides. See Figure 3-2.
Refer to Steps 1-7 in "Removing the Top Cover" earlier in this chapter. If
necessary, skip Steps 1-3 for PCI Hot Plug Replacement.
CAUTION To prevent damage or unpredictable results, do not attempt to
install or replace a PCI board, while the HP NetServer is in a
low activity sleep state.
2. Remove the (short) T-15 Torx
cover. See Figure 3-6.
NOTE Use only short Torx
panel to the top cover. This prevents the top cover from
catching on the center support, when it is removed with the PCI
access panel in place.
3. Push the PCI access panel back about ½ inch. See Figure 3-6.
