ACPI control provides at least three power states and depending on the NOS used and its
ability to make changes to sleep states, perhaps more.
l
1st state is normal power On.
To go to a fully powered on state, the HP NetServer must either be
powered Off, or in a sleep state, and then the front panel Power
On/OFF/Sleep switch is pressed for less than 4 seconds (default).
To move to a sleep state, press the power switch again for less than
4 seconds (default) and the HP NetServer moves to a sleep state,
including the LCD display and the power LED.

2nd state is a sleep or suspend state.
In this state there are no internal operations taking placing, except for the
internal clock and the cooling fans. This includes no activity for the CPUs,
CD-ROM, or internal hard disk drives. The HP NetServer appears to be off
except for the sound of the fans, the LCD display, and the Power On LED
on the front panel. The active LCD display indicates System is in
ACPI sleep mode and the green Power On LED is flashing on and off.
To enter a sleep state, the HP NetServer must be fully powered on and
then the front panel Power On/OFF/Sleep switch is pressed for less
than 4 seconds (default).
To exit a sleep state, press the power switch again for less than
4 seconds (default) and full operation is restored, including the LCD
display and the power LED.

3rd state is the normal power shutdown.
All activity stops except the internal clock and the front panel LCD
display, which reads System is powered off , unless the power
cord is removed from the power source.
To go to a fully powered down state, the HP NetServer must either be
powered On, or in a sleep state, and then the front panel Power
On/OFF/Sleep switch is pressed for more than 4 seconds (default).
To go to a fully powered up state, press the power switch for less than
4 seconds (default) and full operation is restored, including the LCD
display and the power LED.
The NOS may provide programming features to add more sleep states, to change
the activation time for each state, and to shutdown or wake up the HP NetServer at
certain times, depending on the way the NOS interface is programmed. This
option can be provided through the TopTools Remote Control card (Wake on
RTC) or wake up through a LAN connection (Wake on LAN).
