Introduction
The tire pressure monitoring system monitors air pres-
sure in all four road wheels while the vehicle is moving .
As soon as the tire pressure monitoring system senses a significant
loss of air press ure in one or severa l t ires, text messages and ye llow
symbols appear in the instrument cluster disp lay to alert the driver.
The \ war ning light in t he ins t rumen t cluster comes on when the t ire
is significan t ly underinflated

The warning light
..J
also illumi nates in the case of a system malfunc -
tion.
Be aware that t ire pressure is a lso dependent on the temperature
of
t he t ire. For every 18 °F (10 °() increa se in tire temperatu re, tire pres-
sure increases by about 1.5 psi (0.1 bar). The tire warms up while the
vehicle is mov ing and t ire pres sure rises. So you should adjus t tire
pressure on ly when they are cold, when the temperature
of the tires
is roughly t he same as t he ambient air tempe rat ure .
In orde r to keep the t ire pressure mon ito ring system prope rly cali-
brated, tire press ure on a ll four tires sho uld be checked at regular
interva ls, adjusted if necessary a nd saved in t he prope r setting
(recommended
pressure)

The tire press ure is shown on t he label located on t he drive r's side B-
pillar (visible when the door is open) .

WARNING
When the tire pressure monito ring system warning light is lit ,
one or more of your tires is signifi cantly under - inflated. You
should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate
them to the proper pressure as indicated on the vehicle's tire pres-
sure label ~ page 224 . Driving on a significantly under-inflated
tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Under-
inflation also is likely to impair the vehicle's handling and stop -
ping ability.
&
WARNING (continued )
Do not adjust tire pressure when ti re temperature is excessive.
This could lead to serious tire damage and even cause the tire to
burst , with the additional dange r of an accident .
<i'
For the sake of the environment
Driving with under -inflated tires reduces fuel efficiency and tire t read
life.

Tips
Each t ire should be checked month ly when t he t emperat ure of the
tires is about the same as ambient a ir temperature
and set to the
recommende d inflat ion press ure as specified on t he t ire pressure
label~
page
224.
• The fa ctory supp lied sp ar e w hee l is equippe d wit h a se nsor fo r t he
tire pressure monitor ing system. As long as the spare wheel is not
mounted, t he t ire pressure of t his tire will not be moni t ored.
• The tire pressure monitor ing system helps the driver to keep an
eye on tire press ures . But t he dr iver still has t he responsib ility for
ma inta ining the correct tire pressure .
• Tire pressure mus t only be adj uste d when t he temperature
of the
tires is about the same as ambient a ir temperat ure.
• W hen tires are replaced, t he sensors and valves shou ld not be
exchanged . The valve core, nut, valve sealing and seal washer
(rep lacement kit) needs to be re pla ced . If necessa ry, the valve and
the whee l electronics have to be replaced.
• The tire pressure mon itor ing system on you r Audi was calibrated
using t ires with the "AO" or "RO" ident ificat ion. We recommend
using th ese tires.
If you should put different wheels an d tires on your vehicle (e.g.
winte r wheels and t ires), you must be certa in that t he wheels a nd
tires are compatible with the t ire pressure monitor ing system. Other - ..,
