The f luid level may drop slightly after some time d ue to the auto -
m atic adju stment of t he bra ke pads. This is not cause for ala rm.
If the brake flu id level falls considerably be low the "MIN" ma rk, the

Have the brake f luid chang ed by an experienc ed techni -

Bra ke flui d a bsorb s moist ur e from t he air. If the wate r con t en t in the
brake fl uid is too high, corros ion in the brake system may res ult after
a pe riod of t ime. The boiling po int of t he br ak e fluid will also decrea se
co ns iderab ly and decrease brak ing perfo rmance.
The refore, the brake f luid m ust be changed
every two years.
Always
use new brake fluid w hich conforms to Federal Motor Veh icle Stan-
dard "FMVSS 1 16 DOT 4" .
The br ake f luid re servoi r can be diffi cu lt to rea ch , t here fore, we
recommend that you have the brake fluid changed by your authori zed
Audi dealer .

Brake fluid is poisonous. It must be stored only in the closed
original container out of the reach of children!

Brake
failure can result from old or inappropriate brake fluid .
Observe these precaution s :
- Use only brake fluid that meets SAE specification
J
1703 and
conforms to Federa l Motor Vehicle Standard 116. Always check
with you r authorized Audi dealer to make sure you are using
the correct brake fluid. The corre ct type of brake fluid is also
indicated on the brake fluid rese rvoir .
- The brake fluid must be new . Heavy use of the brakes can
cause a vapor lock if the brake fluid is left in the system too
long . This can s eriously affect the efficiency of the brakes as
well as your safety. This could result in an accident .
