Your vehicle has a warning system for the driver and front
seat passenger to remind you about the importance of
buckling -up.
Before
driving
off, always:

- Fasten your safety belt and make sure you wear it prop -
erly .
- Make sure that your passengers
also buckle up and prop-
erly wear their safety be lts.
- Protec t chil d ren with a child restraint system appropriate
for the size and age.
The warn ing light

in the inst rument clus t er lights up when the igni-
tion is sw itched on as a reminder to fasten the safety belts. In addi -
t ion , you will hear a warning to ne .
After the ign ition is sw itched on , the warni ng light in the instrument
cluster will always come on for about 6 seconds and if the driver has
no t fastened t he safety belt, a wa rning tone will also so und for about
6 seconds . As soon as the driver has fastened the safety belt, the
wa rning tone will st op and t he war nin g light will go out .
If the dr iver or front seat passenger have not buckled -up within about
10 seconds after the warn ing tone has stopped and the vehicle is
moving faster than about 15 mph, the warning tone will sound again
for abo ut 6 seconds and the n stop for 24 seconds an d the n repea t
this rem inder seque nce for a maximum of 2 minutes. At speeds
be low 5 mph, the wa rning tone will not sound.
Fasten your s afety belt and make sure that your passeng ers also
properly put on their safety belts.

reduce the risk of serious injur y and death in automobile acci-
dents . For your protect ion and that of your passengers , always
correctly wear s afety belt s when the vehicle is moving.
• Failure to pay attention to the warning light that come on,
could lead t o personal injury.•
