Check Phase
unit ready command. The library returns the phases n1, n2, n3, n4, representing four
operating parameters:
•
serial port status, n1
•
front panel status, n2
•
SCSI port status, n3
•
cover/beeper status, n4
The first three parameters, n1, n2, n3, can be in any one of the five phases (0 through 4).
The fourth parameter, cover/beeper status, returns a single hexadecimal character (0
through F) representing a four-bit status code:
•
bit 0: cover; 0= cover closed, 1= cover open
•
bit 1: reserved
•
bit 2: reserved
•
bit 3: beeper; 0= beeper off, 1= beeper on
If the library does not respond, a hard failure has occurred or power has been lost.
After power-up initialization, a check condition automatically occurs. This must be
