Host System on page 11. Background Information The Spectra 10000 library supports either a single bus or dual bus configuration. This feature adds flexibility and improved performance but also increases the complexity of the library. You need to understand both the dual and single SCSI bus features to choose where you will physically and electrically locate the new drive.

For a comprehensive review of the internal configuration of the library, refer to Chapters 2 and 3 in the Spectra 10000 User Guide. The information in these sections details the proper configuration settings and cable connections for single-bus and dual-bus modes.

If a tape is located in one of the storage slots that you need to convert to a pass- through slot, move the tape to another location in the library or remove it from the library and reintroduce it at a later time.
Disconnect all cables from the library. Make a record noting the locations of all the disconnected cables. Warning: Disconnection of cables must be done with the power to the host system and library off. Spectra 10000 Library AIT Tape Drive Installation Guide...

If you are installing a new drive in a previously unoccupied location, you must select a unique SCSI ID for the drive. Refer to the Spectra 10000 User Guide for further discussion on setting the SCSI IDs in the Spectra 10000 library.

The upper left corner of the first Drive Info screen indicates that you are looking at information for Drive 1. Check that the SCSI bus information is consistent with the installed drive. You should be familiar with the Spectra 10000 library SCSI bus options and configurations.
