Page 4: Powering Down The Library
Powering Down the Library 1) Perform a system “shut down” and switch the host computer system’s power supply to “OFF”. Power the Spectra 4000-10000 Library to the “OFF” position. Make sure both systems are “OFF”. 2) Remove the Library’s AC Power Cord from the AC power outlet. 3) Remove SCSI cables from the Spectra 4000/5000 or 9000/10000 family of libraries. - Page 5 Remove Library Cover 1) Loosen the 3 Library Cover Screws, shown in Figure 2. If it is a vertical unit, there will be four screws. Figure 2 - Cover Screws for Spectra 5000/10000 Library Family 2) Slide the Library’s cover toward the back of the Library about 1/2 inch. (See Figure 3) This releases the cover’s side clips.
- Page 6 Barcode Scanner Inspection 1) There are two types of Spectra 4000/5000 Pickers, and one type of Spectra 9000/10000 Picker. The part number, which identifies the type of the Picker, is stamped on the baseplate near the motor. See Figure 5. Identify the Picker Assembly installed in the unit from the table shown below. - Page 9 Enabling the Barcode Scanner Caution - The Barcode Scanner uses a laser to read barcode labels. A laser is a source of highly concentrated light energy, and can damage the eyes. Use extreme caution when operating the library with the cover removed. 1) Keep the lid off of the library.
- Page 10 7) Ensure that Barcode Enabled is On. Barcode Enable On (4000) 8) If it is not on, push + side of the button to enable the Barcode Scanner. Note - If it is a 9000/10000 library, the “Barcode Chksum” should be enabled (On). 9) Once Barcode Enabled is On, push Save Parms to save the settings.

4) The visible red scan line should start at the right hand side of the tape, and move counter clockwise across the entire width of the label. 5) If the Barcode Scanner does not pass all the way across the label, call Spectra Logic Technical Support at (800) 227-4637.
