[Staple Jam]

Symptom

Stapler does not staple. The finisher will not staple sort any sets. [G]

[ Case in the field ]
Description
When attempting to set up a staple sort job, the Staple Finisher D1/Booklet Finisher D1 will not staple any
sets. There are no error codes that follow this scenario and the finisher and machine perform without any
indication of an error.
Field Remedy
In this case, the stapler alignment interference sensor S128 was blocked. One of the two sensor actuator
return springs was detached and would not allow the actuator to return properly creating a sensor blocked
condition. When S128 is blocked the stapler operation is suspended without an error of any kind. Check that
the springs are mounted properly. Other possibilities may include wiring to S128 or S128 itself. The stapler
will have to be removed in order to check both springs. Check the images below for reference.
1) Remove the two screws and two connectors in order to remove the stapler.
2) Check S128 mounting (left arrow) and wiring (two right arrows) after the stapler has been removed.
