Symptom

E840-0001 due to deformation of the fixing shutter

Symptom
E840-0001 may occur.
- E840-0001 (Fixing shutter motor error): The fixing shutter HP sensor failed the detection at the fixing
shutter operation
Cause
The fixing assembly must be installed fitting the protrusion [b] of the fixing shutter [2] into the groove [a]
of the fixing shutter drive gear (front). The figure [A] shows the correct relative position of the fixing
shutter drive gear (front) and the fixing shutter. Meanwhile, if the fixing shutter is mounted to wrong
position as shown in the figure [B], the fixing shutter is deformed and come in contact with the fixing roller
[3]. As a result, the load to drive the fixing shutter drive gear (front) increases so much that the fixing
shutter does not work properly any more.
