Symptom
White lines in vertical scanning direction on halftone image at installation or at replacement of
Developing Assembly
[Manual-related]
Description
White lines in the vertical scanning direction (uneven development) sometimes occur on a halftone image.
Cause
The symptom is caused by uneven toner coating on the Developing Lower Cylinder due to insufficient
toner stirring at installation or when supplying toner to the Developing Assembly after replacing the
Developing Assembly.
Field Remedy
1. Remove the Developing Assembly and check the Developing Lower Cylinder for uneven toner coating.
2. If the toner coating on the Developing Lower Cylinder is uneven, perform the following service mode.
Service Mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > DENS > DEV-AGG: Execution of developing unevenness
elimination mode
[Reference] DEV-AGG reduces insufficient stirring by performing forcible idle rotation of the Developing
Assembly.
(Solid black images are formed at regular intervals in order to prevent the Drum Cleaning Blade from
flipping.)
The default execution time is 10 minutes. It can be changed in another service mode.
Service Mode > COPIER > FUNCTION > DENS > AGG-SW: Setting of developing unevenness
elimination mode times (5 min., 10 min., 15 min., 20 min., or 25 min.)
[Note] Be careful not to perform this mode longer than necessary. It can cause flipping of the Drum
Cleaning Blade and scattering of toner.
