Symptom
Line (crepe mark) in horizontal scanning direction due to temperature rising on Fixing Roller
edges at continuous print
[Manual-related ]
Description
Due to temperature rising on the Fixing Roller edges at continuous print, line (crepe mark) may occur in
the horizontal scanning direction (image failure like crepe cloth).
This symptom may occur on all images, but especially it is more likely to occur on the halftone image with
the following conditions.
- When continuously printing 200 or more small-size papers (A4 size: approx. 1000 sheets)
- When printing large-size papers right after continuously printing 100 or more small-size papers
Cause
When temperature rising on the Fixing Roller edges occurs at continuous print, the edges of the Pressure
Roller are expanded and the feed speed of the edges is accelerated. When the feed speed of the edges
becomes faster, the paper is pulled to the direction of both edges. As the machine feeds the trailing edge,
the image distorted and fixed. This causes lines on the image.
Field Remedy
1) Set the following user mode: Settings/Registration > Function Settings > Common > Print Settings >
Thin/Plain Paper Printing Priority Settings > Quality Priority
[Reference] When "Quality Priority" is set, the temperature difference between the center and edges of the
Fixing Roller is detected during printing, and the idle rotation is executed before the temperature rising
occurs on the edges, so the temperature rising is prevented. However, during the idle rotation, printing
cannot be made, so the productivity is decreased.
2) When this symptom still occurs, change the level of Quality Priority as follows.
Service mode > COPIER > Option > IMG-FX > FX-IMGLV > 1
0: Text document mode (Image quality is decreased, but productivity is improved.)
1: Photo document mode (Image quality is improved, but productivity is decreased.)
2: Not used
[Note] Get approval from the user in advance by telling that when "1" is set, the productivity is decreased
instead of improving image quality.
