24.2 Network > WAN
Using the mbNET's WAN interface, you can connect a local network to another local network or a public
network, such as the Internet. The WAN interface can be configured depending on the application.
Optionally, you can define / add network routes here in CIDR format (x.x.x.0/24).

24.2.1 Interface - set WAN interface type

Here you can specify the type of interface and configure the interface.
Click the Edit icon
to edit the corresponding function.

Interface Type
Description
DCHP
Select this type if a DHCP server is present in the network and thus automatically as-
signs an IP address to the router (mbNET).
Contact your network administrator if necessary.
DSL
Select this type if your router (mbNET) is connected directly to a DSL modem that pro-
vides the connection to the Internet.
Static
Select this setting if the connection to the Internet is via an existing device that device is
not acting as a DHCP server, or if no server is set up to assign addresses.
You should also select this setting if you have received a static address from your ISP,
e.g. if you have a leased line.
Note also that this type of connection requires you to enter a DNS server.
