Emergency Call System (eCall System)
Emergency call system (eCall system) is a system that makes emergency calls using
navigation satellite systems (Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)).
eCall system is activated based on the 112 emergency call by default.
When the airbags activate, the eCall system will automatically make an emergency call
to the call center of the European emergency call number 112, starting a voice call with
an operator at the call center.
In addition, in the event of an emergency, such as a traffic accident or a sudden illness,
you can make an emergency call manually via the eCall system by pressing the SOS
button in the vehicle to start a voice call with an operator at the call center.
When making an emergency call, the eCall system transmits the following information
which is required for rescue work.
• Vehicle Identification Number
• Vehicle type (passenger vehicle or light commercial vehicle)
• Vehicle propulsion storage type (gasoline/diesel/CNG/LPG/electric/hydrogen)
• Last three locations and direction of travel of the vehicle
• Log file of the automatic activation of the system and its timestamp
This information is retained for 13 hours after the emergency call was triggered.
The eCall system processes personal data in accordance with the following
regulations:
• Regulation (EU) 2017/78, 2017/79
There is no constant tracking of the vehicle in the eCall system.
If no response is made during a voice call, a rescue will be requested by the judgment
of the operator.
WARNING
• Depending on the situation, the emergency call may not be made automatically
even when the airbags activate. In such a case, manually make an emergency
call by using the SOS button or request a rescue without using the eCall system
(using a public phone around the vehicle, etc.).
