PRE-DRIVING OPERATIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
WARNING
• No alterations or additions should be made to the anti-theft system, as
such alterations or additions would automatically invalidate the certificate of
installation.
When the vehicle doors and engine hood are locked, the anti-theft system is designed
to protect your vehicle and valuables from theft.
Any attempt to forcibly open any door or the engine hood without using the passive
entry and start system or keyless entry system will cause the hazard warning flasher to
flash on and off and the horn to sound intermittently. Once the system starts operating,
the horn shuts off after 30 seconds and the hazard warning flashers shut off after 5
minutes automatically.
Activating the Anti-theft System
1. In models with passive entry and start system, switch the power mode to "OFF".
In models with keyless entry system, turn the starter switch to the "LOCK"
position and remove the key.
2. Make sure that all doors and the engine hood are closed, that all windows are
closed, and that nobody is in the vehicle.
3. Lock the door by using the passive entry and start system or keyless entry
system. Locking the door turns on the anti-theft system indicator light.
4. Approximately 10 seconds after the anti-theft system indicator light comes on,
the anti-theft system is activated. At this time, the anti-theft system indicator light
starts flashing.
