PRE-DRIVING OPERATIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS
When and How the Seat Belt with Pretensioner and SRS
The seat belt with pretensioner and airbag system are activated when the vehicle
receives an impact exceeding a certain level in the event of a frontal collision, or lateral
collision. Because the vehicle body absorbs part of impact energy, the system may not
be activated due to reduction in the force of the impact or the intensity or direction of
the impact received. However, even if the front of the vehicle is largely deformed by the
collision, in some cases the impact on the seat is not severe. Therefore, the severity
of deformation of and damage to the vehicle do not necessarily coincide with the
activation of the airbag.
When Are the Seat Belt with Pretensioner and Frontal Airbags Activated?
When the vehicle collides head-on
against a parked/stopped vehicle or
a moving vehicle with an impact of a
certain level or higher
WARNING
• Immediately after the frontal airbags are inflated, the metal portion that inflates
the airbags gets hot. Do not touch it. Doing so may cause a serious injury such
as a burn.
NOTE
• The passenger side front airbag may activate even if a passenger is not present.
Airbag System Operates
When the vehicle collides head-on
against a solid wall with an impact of a
certain level or higher
