Service Procedures
System 390 Integrated Server FTP Site
IBM has two FTP sites based on the P/390. One is on the Internet (accessible to customers and IBM
Business Partners) and the other is on the IBM Intranet (accessible to IBM CEs and IBM internals).
The Internet FTP site is:
ftp://P390.IBM.COM
The IBM Intranet FTP site is:
ftp:I/S390IS.POK.IBM.COM
Read the README.HTM file or README.TXT file for instructions and a description of what is currently
available on this site. As of this printing, the subdirectories include:
• INCOMING - to put your traces into
• DOC - HTM browsable and PostScript printable information on System 390 Integrated Server
• System 390 Integrated Server
- S390IS/SFIXPACK - the latest System 390 Integrated Server fixpacks
- S390IS/STEST - temporary workarounds or debugging versions (don't download unless instructed
by IBM).
Change Management Tools
This is the procedure to follow to download and apply 10SP fixpacks or patches.
Download Fixpacks
Fixpacks and patches are available as ZIP files from either the Internet or IBM Intranet FTP sites Iiste9
above.
1. Verify with the customer that the S/390 Integrated Server is connected to the Internet. If it isn't the
S/390 Integrated Server can be connected to the IBM Intranet by a modem (if a modem and phone
line are available) using the procedure "Setting up an Internet Connection via Modem" on page 224.
2. Open an OS/2 window.
3. Create a temp directory to download the fixpacks to by entering MD FIXES.
Note: This may fail if the directory already exists, this not an error.
4. Switch to the directory where the fixpacks are to be downloaded to by entering CD FIXES.
5. Establish a FTP connection to the P390 FTP site by entering FTP P390.lBM.COM or if connected to
the IBM Intranet enter FTP S390IS.POK.lBM.COM.
6. Enter anonymous when prompted for a name.
7. Enter your internet address or your lastname followed by @IBMCE for the password. For example
enter my_name@ibmce.
8. At the FTP> prompt enter bin to transfer files in binary mode.
