SSA Interfaces for Eight or Less Drives
SA 00, SA 01, and SA 02 are Extender cards used to connect the external cables
from the adapter to the MidPlane SSA Bus. SA 02 is reserved for future use and
must not be used.
In the drawing above only the first eight drive slots are used, the SSA cabling is
connected from SSA card A 1 to SAOO J1 and SSA card A2 to SAOO J2.
SSA Plugging Rules for Eight or Less Disk Drives
If you have between three and eight· drives, you will use two long SSA cables to
connect the Left Extender Card to the SSA adapter card ports A 1 and A2. The
drive slots must be populated in the order indicated by the numbers 1 through 8.
If you have fewer than eight drives, then SSA Dummy Drive must be plugged into
the unused slots. However, you must NOT plug more than THREE dummy modules
in a row AND you may NOT have any dummy modules in the top row that directly
connect to the SSA adapter ports (A 1 and A2).
