IBF (Integrated Battery Feature) Removal and Replacement
Removing the IBF

In order to avoid unexpected disruption during a concurrent repair, a concurrency check must be
made to first determine that the redundancy of the system has enough function still intact so that the
repair can be made. If the redundancy check fails for a given FRU, the machine must be taken off
line in order to perform the service.
No check required for IBF replacement

Locate the ISF to be removed. The ISF
fit
LED will be lit on the corresponding OCA. OCA 1 (left)
corresponds to ISF1 (top), and OCA2 corresponds to ISF2 (bottom). The LED on the ISF to be
removed mayor may not be lit.

Set the circuit breaker on the ISF to the Off position.

Unplug the battery cable from the front of the ISF.

Loosen upper and lower fasteners using PN 6422789 torque tool and slide the unit out of the frame.
Replacing the IBF

Se sure that the breaker on the front of the replacement ISF is in the Off position.

Slide the ISF into the frame and tighten the fasteners using torque tool PN 6444789. Note that the
ISF must go into the frame with its circuit breaker above its center.

Plug the battery cable into the ISF.

Set the breaker on the front of the ISF to the On position.

Press the button labelled PWR RESET on the OCA.
