• If the subsystem contains disk drives that have
failed, repair those disk drives, or exchange
them for new disk drives (see "Disk Drive
Assembly (HDA) Removal and Replacement"
on page 164).
• Start the SSA Configurator and Service Aids
Utility (see step
1
of "Running the SSA
Configurator" on page 129).
• From the Main menu, select SSA Adapter
List.
• From the SSA Adapter List, select the adapter
against which SRN 49500 was logged.
• Select FREE Resources to list spare disk
drives.
Are any spare disk drives listed?
YES
NO
Review with the user the requirement for hot
spare disk drives. If the customer wants hot
spare disk drives, one or more disk drives
must have their use changed to Hot-spare
Resources.
If the customer does not want hot spare disk
drives:
• Go to "Running the SSA Configurator"
on page 129 and follow the procedure
to Modify the attributes of a resource.
• Change the Enable Use of Hot Spares
attribute to No.

Service Guide
No spare disk drives are available for an array that
is configured for hot spare disk drives.
Note: Verify that all drives are in good status
using the Disk Service Aids.
