Although the IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter has no switches and jumpers on the card, there are several
configuration settings that must be made using the LANAIDC configuration program.
Anytime a Token-Ring adapter is installed or replaced in the S/390 Integrated Server, the following
configuration steps must be performed:
• Before powering up the system, insert the IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter Diagnostic and LANAID
diskette into drive A:
An image of this diskette is located in the AWSDIAG subdirectory of the S/390 Integrated Server
CD-ROM. See f:\AWSDIAG\AWSDIAG.DOC (where f: is the drive letter of your CD-ROM) for
instructions on how to create a diskette from this image. You will need a blank, formatted, 1.44MB
diskette.
• Power on the system (or press the "reset" button if the system is already powered up).
• When the DOS 7.0 Startup Menu appears, select
LANAID.
• At the LANAIDC prompt, type
/VIEW
and press ENTER.
This will display the configuration data for each Token-Ring adapter in the system. Make a note of the
adapter numbers, and the settings for:
Remote IPL:
Expansion ROM:
• Press ENTER until the LANAIDC prompt reappears.
• Type the following for each adapter number, pressing ENTER after each line. For example, for three
adapters (numbered 1, 2
&
3):
/ADAPTER=l /RIPL=N /EXPROM=N
/ADAPTER=2 /RIPL=N /EXPROM=N
/ADAPTER=3 /RIPL=N /EXPROM=N
These setting will ensure that the Token-Ring adapter does not use the COOOO and 00000 memory
areas for BIOS, as these areas are at a premium in the IOSP.
