• Note the name of the failing array from step 12.
• Start the SSA Configurator and Service Aids
Utility (see step 1 of "Running the SSA
Configurator" on page 129).
• From the Main menu, select SSA Adapter
List.
• Select the SSA Adapter from the list.
• From the SSA Adapter menu select System
Resources.
• Select the failing array.
• Select View Members.
• Select the failing disk drive, and note the UID
numbers of the disk drives that are members of
the array.
• Ask the user create a backup of all the data
from this array. Some data might not be
accessible.
• When the backup has been created, ask the
user to delete the array.
• Run nonconcurrent diagnostics to each of the
disk drives that you noted previously.
Do the diagnostics fail when they are run to a
particular disk drive?
NO

Exchange the failing disk drive for a new
one (see "Disk Drive Assembly (HDA)
Removal and Replacement" on page 164).

Go to step 45 to add the disk drive to the
group of disk drives that are available for
use by the RAID manager.
Run the Certify service aid (see "Certify Disk
Service Aid" on page 120) to each of the disk
drives that you noted previously.
Did the certify service aid fail when it was run to a
particular disk drive?
