Service Procedures
• Press ESC to return to the SSA adapter menu.
• Select SYSTEM RESOURCES.
If there is anything listed here, then it is probably an active, online RAID-5 array. Make sure any
customer data present in the array has been backed up before deleting this array.
To delete an array:
• Highlight the array line in this list and press DEL.
• Press ENTER to answer YES, you want to detach this.
• Press ESC to return to the previous menu.
• Select RAID 5 Arrays.
• Highlight the array line in this list and press DEL.
• Press ENTER to answer YES, you want to detach this.
• Press ESC to return to the previous menu.
• Skip to step 6.
5. Delete all disks from the List of New Disks one by one, using the DEL key.
6. Press ESC to return to the previous menu.
7. Select FREE RESOURCES.
All of the disks deleted in the above step should now be listed. These are now free disks that can be
placed into an array.
8. Press ESC to return to the previous menu.
9. Select RAID 5 ARRAYS There should be nothing listed.
• Press INSERT to create the array. Enter the Filter Attributes for the RAID 5 Array
• Give the array a name (e.g. ARRAY1)
• Change HOT SPARE to 0 if the array contains three disks. If you have more disks and want to
dedicate a drive to be a hot spare, then leave it set to 1.
• Change REBUILD PRIORITY to 100%.
• Press ENTER twice.
10. Under the MEMBERS window, there should be no members.
• Press INSERT to bring up the list of possible candidates.
• Select a member with the up/down arrows, then press ENTER.
• Press INSERT for the next, then ENTER, etc. until all members have been added. In almost all
cases, you will add all of the disks to the array (all candidates).
11. Press ESC to continue.
12. Press ENTER to answer YES to start the re-build process.
This will happen in the background as long as the system is powered up. You can power down at any
time and it will start where it left off. You go to the next steps as well without waiting for the re-build to
complete. (The percentage will not change unless you leave this screen and then come back again).
13. Press ESC three times to get back to the Main Menu.
14. Select SYSTEM RESOURCES.
15. Press INSERT
