Find the service aid you want to
run from the list at the right, then
go to the step indicated.
4 Set Service Mode
To use the Set Service Mode
service aid:
• From the Disk Service Aids
window, select the disk drive
that you want to put into
Service Mode.
• Press F4 to set Service
Mode. Confirmation
information displays.
• To reset Service Mode, press
Esc.

Note: You can select only one disk drive at time.
If you select Service Mode, and the selected disk drive is not
in a closed loop or at the end of a string (see "SSA Loops
and Links" on page 113), your selection fails and an error
message is displayed.
If the Check light of the disk drive that you have put into
Service Mode does not come on, and you are not sure of the

location of that disk drive, use the Identify function to help
~
you find it (see step 8). If necessary, you can identify the
disk drives that are on each side of the one that you are
trying to find.
