Glossary
E- 6
Post-trigger
The part of the waveform record data that occurs after the
trigger event.
Pre-trigger
Probe
The part of the waveform record data that occurs before the
trigger event.
An oscilloscope input device.
Probe compensation
Adjustment that improves a probe's frequency response.
Real-time sampling
Sampling where the digitizing oscilloscope operates fast
enough to completely fill a waveform record from a single
trigger event.
Record Length
The number of samples in a waveform.
Record Time-Base Mode
The time-base mode used for most time bases. When a trig-
ger occurs, a record of the waveform is acquired and dis-
played.
Reference memory
Memory in an oscilloscope used to store waveforms or set-
tings. You can use the waveform data for later processing.
Non-volatile reference memory, as in your digitizing oscil-
loscope, saves data even after the oscilloscope's external
power is turned off.
Rise time
RMS
The time it takes for a pulse's leading edge to rise from a
Low Ref. value (typically 10%) to a High Ref. value (typi-
cally
90%)
of its amplitude.
Amplitude (voltage) measurement. The true Root Mean
Square voltage.
